Over the past couple of months – our peak wedding season, I have enjoyed the wonderful opportunity to officiate at weddings in so many of our iconic venues – each one offering something unique, their own touch of special-ness.   The Hinterland has a venue for every couple – from high-end upmarket elegance to the more budget friendly but still beautiful celebration; from a small intimate celebration that may be an elopement or just your closest family and friends to an all out extravaganza.  I thought I would share a few of my favourite places with you all.  (The text for each venue’s description largely comes from the venue’s own website – and it is information with which I absolutely concur.)

Flaxton Gardens weddings

By day the views seem endless and by starlight it captures the coastline perfectly … ideal for beautiful wedding photography.  The service at FG has often been described as: “Impeccable, professional, heart-felt, superior and organisational excellence.”  The packages that Flaxton Gardens offers are a guide and they really do believe in creating this day with you. Being married is all about unity and coming together as one – husband and wife.

There are three lovely ceremony options – the walled garden and gazebo sor more intimate weddngs, the escarpment with its amazing views and the Barrel Room with its warm intimacy – often used as the inclement weather option, but also chosen by many brides for its own unique ambience.

The reception can be held in the Winery which is a magnificent room that seats up to 150 guests located off the terrace and overlooking Moreton Island to Noosa.

For smaller more intimate weddings the boutique restaurant is a perfect choice when considering a wedding for up to 60 guests. Located in the main original Queensland home with wrap-around verandahs.

Flaxton Gardens luxury on-site accommodation is situated with commanding expansive views of the Sunshine Coast stretching from Moreton Island to Noosa.

Flaxton Grove is a beautiful accommodation venue a short stroll from Flaxton Gardens and adjacent to the rolling hills of the Sunshine Coast hinterland. It sleeps 16 adults and is available for private exclusive use for a minimum of three nights for Flaxton Garden’s brides, grooms and their families.

Secrets on the Lake Weddings

A special occasion requires a special venue. The Secrets Garden is nestled beneath mountainous rainforests and next to a tranquil lake. It features beautiful carvings, rock pools, love seat swings, lush lawns and an antique style boat house – recently renovated and now called ‘The Lakehouse’. Your wedding photos will be stunning and unique – recalling moments will take your breath away and the memories will last a lifetime!  Secrets is a great venue for a smaller weddings or elopements and they love groups up to no more than 80.  People must be guests of Secrets and certain minimum bookings apply.

Ceremony locations include the divine garden decks surrounded by lush vegetation, babbling streams and the lake in the background; the lush lawned garden – so many beautiful nooks and crannies to choose form and the newly refurbished Lakehouse.

Your reception may be simple cocktails and canapes served in the gardens – then perhaps to a local restaurant for dinner or you can make use of Secrets Café for a sit down dinner.

Accommodation is in the amazing treehouse cabins that are lovingly prepared for a special intimate romantic weekend getaway or honeymoon holiday. All are beautifully appointed, secluded and have lovely views of the lake.

The Spotted Chook and Amelie’s Petit Maison Weddings

The Spotted Chook Ferme Auberge is an enchanting French inspired Country Inn nestled in the rolling countryside surrounding the picturesque village of Montville in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

The Spotted Chook and Amelies is a delightful place to wed the one you love, or celebrate other occasions with family, friends or colleagues.  The team at ‘The Chook’ will give you that boutique wedding with a simple, elegant country feel.  The ceremony, in the French gazebo, which is positioned in the garden to take in the views across the valley, is a sublime spot in which to take your special vows.  A walkway that leads down to the gazebo gives your friends, relatives and guests little glimpses of you if you want to make a spectacular arrival.

Your reception can be a garden party of cocktails and canapes or a sit down lunch or dinner in the dining room. ‘The Chook’ caters for sit down weddings 10-45 and cocktail weddings 10-70.

Amelie’s Petite Maison is a little corner of French romance. Chandeliers, king size bed, big white sofa in front of the fireplace and peaceful rural views. Everything you need to nest here as long as you want. Kitchenette, BBQ, spa on the deck make this your home while you stay.  Amelies Petite Maison is the favoured place for bride’s to prepare for their special day with other quests staying in the main part of the house.

 Spicers Clovelly Estate Weddings

Pomodoras on Obi Weddings

The view is the first thing to impress with the rolling green lawn leading out to the banks of the Obi Creek.  Here you will find, nestled in amongst the native Pencil cedars, the ceremony platform, set up with a white bridal signing table and two classic boutique chairs.

Next to delight is the food. In fact Pomodoras on Obi has received food critics’ approval and featured in many magazines from Noosa to Brisbane. You can design your own dream menu from the variety of seasonal dishes including vegetarian and gluten-free options.

The stunning open-planned restaurant can seat up to 70 of your closest family and friends Whether you are planning a small or large wedding, Pomodoras can offer you a few different seating arrangements.

At Pomodoras on Obi there are also five onsite luxury cabins where the bridal party can prepare for the big day – or perfect for a honeymoon suite. Guests coming from afar may also see this as a great way to unwind before or after the event.

Maleny Botanic Gardens Weddings
