Not usually. Your reception is where you celebrate your marriage with your close family and friends. Once the ceremony is completed the celebrant’s role for the day is over. Usually I quietly pack my things away, say goodbye and leave.
The only times I have stayed on for the reception is when I have been the celebrant for a close family member or friend – one where I would have been invited anyway.
It has happened where a couple chooses fly me to another area, such as North Queensland or Victoria, to be their celebrant. In this case I may stay for the reception, but only if invited.
