Do we invite our celebrant to our reception?

Not usually.  Your reception is where you celebrate your marriage with your close family and friends.  Once the ceremony is completed the celebrant’s role for the day is over.  Usually I quietly pack my things away, say goodbye and leave.

The only times I have stayed on for the reception is when I have been the celebrant for a close family member or friend – one where I would have been invited anyway.

It has happened where  a couple chooses fly me to another area, such as North Queensland, to be their celebrant.  In this case I may stay for the reception, but only if invited.
